Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Next year we will be planning the races we do and the training required to do well in them. We already have a couple of marathons to work with, Nottingham and London, so that means long runs THROUGHOUT THE YEAR! We are also training for Nice half and Chamonix. So pick those races and plan that programme; I can't wait!

Whilst you are waiting for Santa to call why not get those stinky trainers out and give them the treatment. Here are some solutions from our climbing friends:
  • You can try putting them into a freezer for a couple of days. The cold temps may kill the offending bacteria.
  • antibacterial spray, selling it cheap at rock & run
  • clean the smell by bunging them in a bag with some of those bath bomb things shoved inside.
  • I've found a spray of Boot's anti-odour/fungal after each use can be reasonably effective.
  • I now find the best remedy is to dry them out when you get back, stick each one in it's own Tesco's bag and tie the tops tightly. Then simply chuck them in the boot of the car until the next time you use 'em. Just be sure to point the Tesco's bag away from your face when you tear it open again.
  • You could try Paxton's Climbing Cleaner - you can use it as a cleaner for the outside of the shoe and sprayed inside and left (it's anti-bacterial) to get rid of the rest of the smell. Works on most things apparently.
  • I had the same problem with Salomon approach shoes and they were so disgusting I took them to the tip.

Training Tuesdays

Last night due to heavy traffic congestion I was late arriving at the Tennis Centre so apologies to anyone who gave up waiting. Also due to injury of key members the Bramcote run was cancelled at short notice so again apologies to anyone put out by the no shows. Going forward I am suspending the Tennis Centre sessions until January when hopefully the traffic may have eased slightly. The Bramcote group is also suspended until there is a compliment of regulars again. It will be announced on this blog.
