Road and Fell Racing/Training 2008

Training Sessions and local races for the (virtual) running club, Nottingham City Harriers. During the summer (from the last weekend in March) we are based at Bramcote Leisure Centre which gives easy access to off-road runs. gary.mcmahon(at)bigfoot.com

During the winter (from the last Tuesday in September) we are based at Nottingham Tennis Centre, University Boulevard, Nottingham, NG7 2QH, UK, Aerial view, which gives easy access to the road.

We offer training for everyone, whether in a club or not. For example, there are two groups, one doing 10 miles at a strong pace which is for those whose times are below 37 - 38 mins for 10k, 62mins for 10 miles 85 mins for a half-marathon or run on the fells. Geoff's group is for slower paced runners, down to very roughly 50 mins 10K, 70 mins for 10m, 105 mins half-marathon and who would like to improve.

No Training from the Tennis Centre during Nottingham Open Tennis Tournament: 14-20 June

As most of you know, the Nottingham Open is on at the Tennis Centre from 14-20 June. I called them today and they confirmed that we can use the Tennis Centre this Sunday i.e. 13th June but then it will be unavailable for 14-20 June inclusive. Tuesday 15th June - 6:30pm - Bramcote Baths, Derby Road, Nottingham.
Meet in the foyer for a 10M.

Looks like the Tennis Centre will be unavailable from 14 - 19 June as the Nottingham Open is on during those dates - we'll arrange an alternative meeting point during that week - it's now looking like a run from Bramcote Baths on Tuesday 15th June - we'll keep you posted.

Wednesday 9th June - The Ken Allen Endorsed Midweek Long Run UPDATED
I'll be doing 13-14M from Beeston out towards Holme Pierrepont. I'm happy to meet up in Beeston or drop by the Tennis Centre if anyone is interested, it'll be ~11M from the TC. I'll set off early-ish ~5:30 to leave the Tennis Centre at 6 pm with Gary and possibly Simon.

Thursday 10th June - 6:30pm - Tennis Centre, University Boulevard or Bramcote Park
1. Meet @ Tennis Centre @ 6:30pm.
or
2. Trevor's session - meet @ Bramcote Pk. @ 6:30pm for 7pm session - likely 8 x 600m off 60-90 sec recovery.

7:30pm Friday 11th June - Newark 10k
Newark Rugby Club - 10k part of the Gordon Whelbourne Running Week. A popular local race which starts and finishes at Newark Rugby Club. A fairly (one slight hill half-way round)flat, fast 10K which is the last race in the Gordon Welbourne series. Watch out for the mixed showers at the end!

Saturday 12th June - 10 a.m., St. Leonards Drive (across from main exit from Wollaton Park)
8M easy/steady pace round Wollaton Park / University grounds.

Training tonight: Tennis Centre, University Boulevard, Nottingham

A 10 mile run from the Tennis Centre along the Canal, Chilwell, and back. Mostly off-road.
