Training and Racing: Tuesday 22 December - Sunday 27 December 2009 Tuesday 22 December - 6:30pm Tennis Centre for a 10 mile run. The route will likely be Wollaton if the Bolsheviks get their way again ;-) Think there's also some talk of a post-run meal at Nosh in Beeston, although I'm not certain about the arrangements - think Lord E is coordinating. Friday 25 December - 2pm National Gluttony Contest - infamous annual competition to identify individuals capable of consuming more than 5-times their weekly caloric requirements in a single sitting. Sunday 27 December If anyone is interested in Papplewick 18 or you have anything else in mind, let me know and I'll meet you.

Geoffs Group Tuesday 8th December 6.30pm Nottingham Tennis Centre

Continuing the theme of recent weeks Wilford Hill fartlek; its seems to be doing some good even if it may not be fuly appreciated on the night. One or two of us took part in the North Mids league XC at Berry Hill Park yesterday. The field was so vast that, at the time of writing (7pm Sunday or 29 hours 5 mins after the start), the results are still not on their website. I will add our runners results here as and when.

NORMAL SERVICE WILL BE RESUMED...

A few people are injured at the moment, we have had a surprisingly long period of injury free training so far. Ritz was flying - finished 3rd in 60min flat, but Tadesse had just dropped these guys and was absolutely flying. 59 min pace looks absurdly fast. Full elite results .

Langdale Horseshoe 2009 (English Championship Race)

Fantastic weather for the weekend and Great accommodation at the Old Dungeon Ghyll promised that this weekend would be a good one! Choosing trail shoes for a slimy wet course was a mistake. The start from the hotel saw 400 runners jostling like sheep in a trailer for the first mile until the sharp climb to Pavey Arc. Elbows were everywhere on the ascent. Soon after Pavey Arc runners could be seen dancing across the bog on the top of the hill. When I got there my first step ended with me in a hole up to my armpits - just a head sticking out. I was more embarrassed than concerned. No-one helped me out choosing to laugh instead. Sliding around on greasy rock and wading through bogs for the next 7 miles brought me to Crinkle Crags and I followed all the crinkles on the ridge route. It was then, I saw emerging from the mist below me a snake of sleek runners zooming off into the distance ahead of me. Another descent and ascent to Pike of Blisco and a greasy slide down the rocks in my sleek t

Longshaw Sheepdog Trials Fell Race 2009

A gem of a Fell Race . It's an add-on to the Sheep Dog Trails and the range of trophys for that event is stunning. Prizes were handed out by the Duke of Devonshire and my prize of a jar of Pickles will now be called 'Dukes Pickles' The field was squelchy and soon covered in deep mud. The runner who came to the race on his tractor did a nice sideline in dragging runners cars off the field. Gary McMahon 1st V50 (Jar of Pickles) The prize that was worth winning.

Hottest Day of the Year! 31C!

Very hot, very hilly!

Whilst the stalwarts were jogging round Swingate, the next generation were cutting their teeth at the Worthington 5 near East Midlands Airport. Joe and Max whipped round the 1.2mile fun run in 10th and 16th positions then the old man crawled round the 5 miler. It's a real grueler - the only circular course I've run that's uphill all the way! A veritable tarmac fell race. All in 26c temperatures. A great village race starting and finishing at a real traditional Marstons pub. Worth another attempt when the temperature drops!
